Narrative Work in Schools:
Promoting Respect, Tolerance & Appreciation
by
Marie-Nathalie Beaudoin, Ph.D.

Fri Oct 22, 1999, 9-4
Rancho Rinconada,
Cupertino
$100
Peer abuse, bullying, disrespect, and intolerance are everyday occurrences in many of today's schools. In this workshop, Marie-Nathalie will explore how disrespectful behaviors can be addressed where they occur - in the classroom. Going beyond the traditional approach of working individually with the victims or perpetrators of disrespect, Marie-Nathalie will present videotaped examples of a program she pioneered in local schools, entitled, "The Bugging Bug" - a program that mobilizes the entire class to fight disrespect together.
Marie-Nathalie Beaudoin, is a supervisor/coordinator for the Narrative Therapy Internship and the director of Windows of Opportunities, the Girl's & Women's program at BAFTTA. She provides services as a clinical psychologist (PSY15892) to individuals, families, youth, and schools and publishes the Silencing Critical Voice journal (available by mail order or on the internet at www.voices.com). Marie-Nathalie also teaches cross-cultural psychology, group dynamics and family therapy at John F. Kennedy University as well as creativity/spontaneity classes for ImprovWorks of San Francisco. Her commitment to bringing forth people's preferred ways of being through narrative work and empowering experiential practices has recently culminated in the publication of her book Working with Groups to Enhance Relationships.
