BAFTTA Field Training
BAFTTA offers a 9 month long field placement training. Interns provide a wide range of services to local schools in exchange for supervision, consultation and training in narrative therapy. Our team consists of licensed clinical psychologists and interns/trainees in psychology, clinical social work and/or marriage/family counselors
Experience
Interns get a rich experience of narrative therapy as they apply and use these ideas in a variety of forums. These can include:
- individual, family and group therapies with children and their families
- consultation and clinical services with teachers and principals
- classroom programs such as anti-bullying work
Internship requirements
- Interest in narrative ideas, children and social justice issues
- At least one year of clinical experience
- Available 3 mornings/week to work in school
- Available one afternoon for training and supervision
- Be available from the last week of August until the 2nd week in June
Training
- Individual supervision
- Group supervision
- A weekly two-hour training that involves live sessions, reflecting teams/outsider witness groups, watching clinical videotapes, practicing interviews, increasing question repertoire, discussing clinical maps, reflecting on diversity issues, exploring discourses, crisis interventions, discussing readings, etc.
- Conference series
(workshops twice/year with speakers such as Michael White, Bill Madsen)

Please send a letter of interest in narrative therapy and a resume. After careful review of the submissions, we will call selected applicants for an interview. While most of our hiring occurs between February and May, we occasionally hire one extra intern in September or December. Please mail your application to:
